Powder Room Makeover
This powder room makeover might be the fastest (and easiest) refresh I’ve ever done! I’ve considered updating this bathroom about a dozen times… it’s been screaming for a simple refresh! However, with an impending home remodel I couldn’t help but think “what’s the point? It will all be torn out soon anyway.” However, given the current situation I find myself {at home} with lots of time on my hands! I know you can relate 😉
So this past Saturday, I came to the conclusion that I had passed by this drab little bathroom for the last time! I already had the paint, the hardware AND the motivation, so why not tackle this little bathroom and enjoy it? Even if it will be ripped out in the coming months!

Powder Room Makeover – BEFORE
The powder room before was lack luster, dated and well… oak. You know… that oak everybody went wild for in the 90’s! For a hot minute, I thought about sanding this vanity down and giving it a light and airy, boho vibe, like one of my favorite Instagram accounts @cynthiaharper. However, with three kids (constantly) at home, I decided this might not be the best option. Cue dusty footprints trailed throughout the house! Are you picturing Family Circus? Because I am 🙂 This bathroom is heavily trafficked and such a project would create too much dust … No thanks!
Painting this little oak vanity was the obvious answer, AND being that I had all the materials on hand, it would cost me absolutely zipp! Nothing! And that is A-OK in my book!
I got after this project mid afternoon and by the next day it was complete! Who doesn’t love instant gratification??!
Powder Room Makeover – After
Since the library pull hardware is affixed to a faux drawer, I thought it might be fun (and useful) to add a subtle reminder to all (my children namely) who sit up on the throne situated directly across it. I used my FREE library pull label template to easily create this “Flush + Wash” label and printed it out on tea stained paper to give it an antiqued appearance. I love how these labels turned out and they are SOOO easy to create! The full tutorial and FREE template can be found HERE.
Next, I added the gold floating frame botanical print to the window (similar frame can be found here). I absolutely love that this little powder room gets so much natural light, however the fact that it looks directly out onto the front porch can leave it a little lacking in the privacy department. Sure we have a shade that can be drawn for privacy, but when down it makes the room dark and small. Hanging this botanical print from the window latch not only provides natural light, but also privacy… win! Plus, it’s hung in such a way that the window can still be freely opened and shut without removing the print.
Lastly, I brought back in my sweet faux plant, hand towel and my antique soap dish.
Even though we will only enjoy this powder room makeover for a few more months, I really love how it turned out! Plus, I’m even more in love with the price ($0!!). You can never underestimate the power of paint and this powder room makeover is no exception!
