A Bourbon Smash can have many variables, however the basic elements remain consistent: bourbon, a spirit base, ice, and a splash of soda water, mint (or other herb), sugar, and some variation of fruit.
How to make a Raspberry Bourbon Smash
Making a Raspberry Bourbon Smash is easy and uses simple bar staples you most likely have on hand. Additionally, for those who prefer a Bourbon cocktail without mint, this version of the Bourbon Smash will have your heart.
Required Bar Tools
Raspberry Bourbon Smash Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Ice
- 2 Tablespoons Raspberry Preserve
- 2 Tablespoons Bourbon
- 1 Tablespoons Triple Sec
- 3 Tablespoons Orange Juice
- Splash of Club Soda
Step 1
Add ice, raspberry preserve, bourbon, triple sec and orange juice to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
Step 2
Strain the liquid into a glass
Step 3
Add a splash of Club Soda and garnish with fruit (I chose to garnish with raspberries and a strawberry)
*Note – If you are making this delicious bourbon cocktail for Valentine’s Day, slice a direction of a strawberry and trim out the stem using a “V” cut. This yields a cute strawberry heart with which to garnish your Raspberry Bourbon Smash.

Instructions
- Add Ice, Raspberry Preserve, Bourbon, Triple Sec and Orange Juice to a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously and strain into a glass.
- Add a splash of Club Soda.
- Garnish with fruit

*If serving for Valentine's Day, garnish with a strawberry, disected and cut into a heart shape.
